Welcome to the forum Thunderbearr. I think Tim completed this project a long time ago. Are you trying for the same kind of look? |

Welcome thunderbearr, yes it still exists, every now and then I`ll turn it on and bask in its useless and slight seizure producing glory.
What`s your project and how can I help? _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Hi Tim! This is what I'm building.
Working on building the side pods and reshaping the back to resemble the movie version. Your light set would be perfect for this! Would you consider selling/loaning it or can you get me a source list for the parts?

One problem will be that you cannot run Red and Blue cop lights on the street.
I belong to a group called Crown Vics of AZ and many members like fixing their cars up as COP cars, in fact many own old cop cars, so they have run into this problem.
A few of the SCI-FI Fans of this group have labled their cars Zombie Hunter or UMBRELLA CORPORATION markings.
So I would suggest either making the bar removable or cover they on the street (like those off duty bags you see on some cop cars.) or changing the lens/covers for street driving.

The plan is to make the light unit removable for 'daily driving'. Same with the pods, etc. Going to take this to cons and shows and then put on the lights, etc. |

Awesome!
The sale of the lights may be possible, will send you a PM on that.
If that doesn't wok out, the first thing you need to do is search as many different Ebay`s as possible to find the tear drop lights. Use search parameters like POLICE LIGHTS...
.EMERGENCY LIGHTS.....HAZARD LIGHTS...WARNING LIGHTS. Once you've found the right ones, double check with the sellers that the lense colour`s are the ones you want.
Then look for DRIVING LIGHTS....CAR LIGHTS....4WD LIGHTS.....FOG LIGHTS to cover the five rectangular lights. I used lighting gel to achieve the clear colours but you could use
clear colour spray to get the same look.
Then you have to find an electronics boffin to wire it all up and make the circuit board needed to time all the light flashing up to match the movie spinners.
That's pretty much the skinny on getting started, don't hesitate to ask if you need any more help, love the project.
Please do one thing for me though, when you have finished the project could you check in with your local police and see if they are ok with the lighting bar attatched to the
vehicle when driving before you remove or cover it up?
My outsiders point of view is that this vehicle in no way represents any recognised law enforcement authority and anyone who thought this particular vehicle was a law enforcement vehicle would have other
more serious issues to address. It is slightly distracting but only a little more than a pretty girl in a short dress. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Thanks! The plan is to have the light bar as a removable module so I can still drive it in 'public'.
Thanks for the advice! |

Cool, I`ll take some pics of the circuit board and post them, might be a help to the electronics person as a reference. I didn't do the electronics for
mine, was lucky enough to have a mate that's all over that stuff.
Its a shame you cant drive the finished car around with the lights attatched all the time, any cop who pulled you over for that would have a very poor sense of occasion indeed.
I guess potential theft of the lights would be an issue though. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |
