I know Deckard had no back up gun in the movie , but I've been looking at the Double Derringer for awhile now and thought it would make a cool companion piece to the main blaster.
I've picked up a blank fire Derringer and have been busy stripping away the paint.
I'm at the stage now where I'm blueing the metal, trying different shades, two tone that sort of thing.
I've made a mould of the grip scales so I can re-do them in an amber coloured resin.
Will post some picks just a soon as I'm happy with the end result.

from the shooting script...
Quote:
Even hurt, Deckard is fast. He goes for his ankle gun,
but Leon's got it out of his hand before he can even
raise it and throws it down the alley.

He was supposed to have a back up gun Wink

Brilliant,Thanks for the link Andy looks like a derringer would be perfect for an "ankle gun"

That's the very model I was thinking of Buch but couldn't fine one in the UK , so ended up getting the original model. Had to get it in.22 as the PFC version in 41 caliber I was looking at went out of stock. Here's where I am so far

Started with this

Stripping everything and adding som knurling to the hammer

Trying out two tone with the bluing but it doesn't seem to be taking as well on certain areas, so stripping it off and starting over now.

Got my mould all sorted for the grip scales just waiting for the Amber pigment for the resin to arrive, in the meantime I tried one in black which is just curing

The main body is all silver again now the bluing was just not taking at all and the barrel is now a much deeper tone. Think I'm sticking with this colour combo

Well this is it so far put the black grips on that I made to to test the mould, can't wait till the amber pigment comes. Have been toying with the idea of an inlay in the Amber too, maybe a unicorns head

First batch of amber grips on a bit pale and some air bubbles, so more pigment on the next set me thinks

put some cornflour into the mould and tap it around the whole interior surface, then bang the upside down mould hard against a hard table until it's all knocked out again.
This will leave a very fine layer on the surface of the rubber. Don't touch the mould surface with your fingers.

The capillary action of the fine dust will pull the resin into the details without forming bubbles.

If you need an ankle holster, let me know Smile

Well here's an update of the latest progress the gun now has smooth grips with a unicorn inlay.

Then thought I'd have crack at making a holster as it turns my pattern was backwards so turned out as a left handed holster. But decided to carry on and make it, that way it would be good practice for when I re try it.
As you can see made a few mistakes where my stitch holes in the back didn't line up but happy with my first attempt at leathercraft.

Then made some bullets up, the explosive tip on the box would explain in some way how this would be affective against replicants.
Then for the box I got a basic wooden box off eBay that started to dress it up a put in section deviders and the lined it with felt

I then made a lapd detective bade out of the same Amber resin a an extra detail

So that's it so far going to crack on with another attemp at the holster an have a few Mr things to go in the box like cleaning brushes and a vintage AK47 oil/ grease bottle to go in the box will post pics whe it's all done

The holster is just a trial first attempt I hadn't even put any edge kote paint on when taking the pictures, my suede hide turned up today so the final holster will be lined and have an ankle strap.
Thought I would put a pocket in the lid lining so it could hold some paper props, photos that sort of thing maybe a user manual like kramstar made for the pkd
