Not to clog the front page with too many topics, but I also saw this.
It's the pivot screw off a different model of Steyr rifle. I'm unsure of the dimensions, but the profile looks decent. I think I'm gonna roll the dice and see...

And why not? Something to try for sure. |

This was a suspected source of the slotted screw for a long time, but IIRC Rich Coyle debunked it. Perhaps because back then we felt the screw too long. With what we know now about it it going all the way to lock down the cylinder crane arm, maybe we should rethink it. I wonder what the dimensions of it are?

I'll measure it when it comes in the mail. It was only a few dollars, so no harm no foul. I guess at the end of the day it's less likely that when they needed a screw to secure the cylinder they said "oh hey I know, lets use this other random screw left over from that rifle" instead of just reaching into a bin and saying "that's a good size."
Nevertheless, I'll throw up the dimensions when I get 'em. |

Given that the knob is from a weaver scope, I suspect the slotted screw is also from a weaver scope of the era. My guess would be that the threads are the same on both the slotted screw and the knob.
But as with so many things related to this prop . . . you never know!

So while I would be highly surprised if this is what they used, I have these screws at work that have a decent profile. They're stainless, though. Slow day at the office
