Thought I should start a new thread as I feel a little wierd posting in the Trench-Coat thread when it's about the REST of Deck's Cloths.

Andy---Feel free to move any of my other posts from the Trench-Coat Thread, that aren't about the Trench-Coat, HERE.

Here is my Deckard shirt and tie ALMOST finished!

I will pass your approvals onto Rachael...I wish I could take credit here but she's the miracle worker when it comes to costumes/clothing (check the Rachael's Dress thread).
I really think she's nailing Deckards look and I'm trying to get her to make a couple extra things to offer here for sale if anyone is interested
(we bought some metallic orange material that SCREAMS Deckard in my opinion!)
...she's pretty busy though so...we'll have to see!

As with any of the garments posted on here, I am always willing to pass on fabrics used and where to get them (provided they are at a national chain; sometimes I buy one-offs). Also, I do keep drafts of all my patterns, and would be happy to supply tips or talk about making a copy in a particular size. Just be sure to give me some lead time, since someone keeps me busy.

That shirt does look pretty damn good. Does it have the western stitching in the back? Very nice!

Does your "Costumer" know about this ? Smile

some reference for you...

and...

It doesn't show the back though. Amazing how much the stitiching makes the shirt though. I would say your's captures the style perfectly.

Thanks for the pics! Anything is always helpful, since I'm a bit picky about details. I hadn't seen any shots of the back of the shirt, so I used a straight yoke across the shoulders. If anyone knows of a shot I could reference, I can always mimic the correct line with stitching.

Very cool pics Andy! I have some of these but NOT that first one which is wonderfully clear.

Just to be extra clear here and for all those out there who may be reading along, my girl-friend has many A.K.A.s, here are a few:

Rachael(here at the Summit), Costumer, Sweety, Baby,Miss-Picky, Grammer Girl(on my web-site) and Sugar Pie...to name a few. Laughing

Rachael is going to have another go at the tie, this time turning the fabric in the other direction and then adding the grid-lines.
This way it will look a bit more like the movie tie with the colors stacked on top of each other like a life-saver roll.
Pics soon I hope!

Excellent work! Man I'd consider wearing that outfit in public. You could set a new trend.

Thanks for the compliments! I am assuming that parts of this project will become street clothes, since after a while the lines between 'real' and 'wish it was real' can blur a bit. Hey, I wear my Lara Croft boots from last Halloween to work all the time. Makes sitting in the office a bit less dull, if only in my own mind. Think I'll take a short break from Deckard and get back to the black suit for a few days. Time is short after all and one must prioritize.

The Deckard Shirt is finished!
Here are some details on how I made it. I used Simplicity 7030 as my sloper, as I have had good luck with it before. I should have a better pic of the whole shirt next week, it's hard to get a good shot on a mannequin.

This is what I altered:
I split the front into two pieces, adding a 7" yoke as pictured. The yoke should hit about 2/3 down the front of the armscye to get the proportions on the original. I cut the yoke on the cross grain to have the horizontal stripes.

For the chest pockets, I used an interior pocket instead of a patch, because it can be such a pain to match patterns and so obvious when you miss. Also, this gives strength to the bottom of the pocketbag because there are three layers instead of two. I placed the pockets 3" in from center front.

To get the bloused effect at the cuffs, I made the shirt sleeves into bishop sleeves. That is very simple, just take the sides of the sleeve pattern straight down instead of tapering. I added 3" of extra length for blousing. The cuffs are 3" wide, and again cut on the cross grain. I chose to skip the stitching on the cuffs because the stripe is already on the fabric.

The buttons we are using are La Mode 24773 (5/8") for the front and 24772 (7/16") for the cuffs. Seven buttons down the front, two buttons on each cuff.

Thought I would post this little detail of the Deckard Shirt.
Rachael and I bought these buttons almost a year ago on sale at a Joanne's Fabric store that was closing. It was MUCH later that she found the fabric for the shirt....a little wierd how the patterns are echoed.
