Here is the screen used Blazer when it went on auction(notice the missing left shoulder patch which WAS there for the movie)
I like Rachael's coloration MUCH better.
The breast pocket orientation looks spot on to me!

Beautiful job Rachael!

Is the jacket made of the same wool material that you have pics of above? The color looks different on my monitor, but that could easily be camera/monitor/flash combining to shift tone.

Well done!

yep, same wool. The wonders of lighting and digital photography. Another contributing factor is that being a tweed, there are about 5 colors going on in the fabric as it is. But it does 'read' burnt orange in person. Had to put the rest on hold for a day or so while I wander into Western territory a bit. Hope to be back to the future noir soon.

And this is Magnoli clothiers Deckard's jacket...the flashy orange color appart, i let you judge of the final result guys !

The overall look of the jacket is quite good imho even if the cloth seems to be thin, and not herringbone ...i'm not sure if there are two buttons on the original, i will vote for just one !...I would have add two shoulder pads in the vest which make quite obviously part of the hero jacket...

I really can't wait to see Megan's finished product which looked like great !!

Magnoli's cut is off in so many ways. The color is the least of it.
-The fabric below the pockets is too short.
-The weave of the silk fabric is too tight (it isn't herringbone but a summer weave).
-No shoulder pads.

It looks like cool vintage jacket though. I will wait for Rachael's version instead, and see if it works.

It is too bad that Indy just ignores photographic evidence when given to him though. Razz

Magnoli jacket = Deckard asking Gaff for fashion tips...ugh!!
You're right Andy, not a lot to like about that one.
Megan is on the right track, and yes, the cuffs are a bitch to make.

I have been pushing Megan to finish up the Blazer so we should have something to show soon...it just needs sleeve's and a lining.
I too am baffled by Mignoli...I'm guessing it's a pride thing with him...
unfortunately he just can't seem to hear anyone, if he would just take it for what it is; "input", he could have a lot more to be proud of!
More soon guy's!

Just don't push her down, Paul. She might hurt herself.
Cool news! Looking forward to seeing more of the progress.

Well, I can't wait to see either one of them finished (plus, I understand that Magnoli's re-working his Deckard Blazer) So...
The more the merrier...
Very Happy
I'm just happy that there are so many MORE options for this style of clothing than there ever (I repeat) EVER were in the ... oh, I dunno... last couple of DECADES leading up to this point in time!
Kudos all around to those of you working so hard on this!
Mitch

Well, I'm EXCITED (in a cautiously optimistic kinda' way!)
Magnoli just sent me an e-mail showing me the new fabric he's settled on for the purpose of the my Deckard Blazer and work is about to begin on the one I've ordered!

A little history:
A while back (Fall of last year) I contacted Magnoli inquiring as to whether he'd ever - or would - consider making a replica of the Deckard Blazer. He confirmed that he HAD, in fact, been working towards making one and asked if I'd like to have one made to my specs.
He was using what details he was able to determine both from available stills, dvd scenes (including unused scenes) input from various sources (fans willing to share their knowledge) and of course, those auction photos.
I want to make clear that right from the outset, I expressed to him that while I was a big fan of the Blade Runner aesthetic, that I wanted a jacket that - while first and foremost matched (as closely as possible) the overall "style and color" of the blazer) - was STILL "Real World Friendly". I intended to wear it, on a regular basis, to work, social events, etc.
The jacket in the auction photos has, of course, stretched out over time and looks a little "worse for wear" but even when Harrison WAS wearing it during the movie shoot it was a bit of an odd, snug fit (refer to the footage in the "Fashion Forward: Wardrobe & Styling" doc where HF is removing his jacket to see what I'm referring to... assuming you don't already have the pictures in your mind).
I was hoping my jacket would be more shaped and structured... and have a less "crushed, stretched, smooshed" look to it... I figure I'LL do that to it over time.
As for 1 button versus 2: I think that - without a doubt - the blazer in the movie has only ONE button.
I asked Magnoli for two.
Again, just a personal preference. That scene in "Deleted and Alternate Scenes" when first stops by to visit Holden (hands in pockets stretching the blazer wide except for where that one button is desperstely trying to hold it together? I HATE that.) Is it "slouchy and rumpled and... "Deckard"? sure it is. But it's a bit too Granny's Wool cardigan for ME.
Finally, the color.
Magnoli and I looked at a number of available swatches in the available material that we hoped would best match what I wanted.
The jacket was made (it's the jacket you see above - in "Burnt Orange" Pure Raw Silk).
He sent me photos (PRIOR to mailing it to me) to seek my approval.
I had a few issues with one or two things - but again, only one or two, it was being made to MY specs, after all - and sent an e-mail to Magnoli on the matter of my Deckard Blazer. Here's a sample of what I had to say about the color:

"It'll kill me if I don't say something... WOW it REALLY looks VERY orange to me (even more than I thought the #40 swatch looked in the sample!)... Is it THAT bright in person or does the photo sort of "flare-up" the color a bit? Don't get me wrong, Indy... I realize I agreed to this swatch... but I'd love to hear some re-assuring words from you like "it's not nearly that bright a color in person" or... something (any other photos that show it looking darker, or "duller"?) I just really want to get the jacket I'd been hoping for, as I know you'll understand. This jacket looks practically perfect... but the color seems SO bright - to me, at least."

To his credit, Magnoli said he wouldn't send me this jacket and instead asked if he could have some time to re-tool it a bit and seek out another fabric that better matches my original request.
This morning I recieve an e-mail from him that said:

"I think we've got a winner. See the attached image. The new fabric is a silk-linen blend in a color called bronze. As you can see, it has the right tone, but much less "colorful" than the #40 we used last time in the raw silk. It also has a nice rough texture to it that will fit the jacket much better. We'll get started on this asap and let you know when your jacket is ready to ship."

So, to return to the point I made in the opening:
I'm EXCITED (in a cautiously optimistic kinda' way!)
Having seen the new material, I'm feeling good about my jacket!
Will I like it when I have it in hand?
Well, I hope so.
Will you like it?
Well, who knows? Maybe... maybe not. But I guess what I'm saying is this:
When I began this with Magnoli, the whole point was that I was a Custom Jacket we were making and he's done his BEST to make a jacket that his client - myslef - would be satisfied with.
Go to his website. Now click on "Catalog"...go to the "Suit Jacket" Selection...
Look at the Deckard Jacket Price.
Now look at the Custom Jacket Price.
Same price, right?
Right.
Magnoli made the initial blazer he made at my request available for purchase because he liked what he'd had made.
BUT he will make THIS jacket - any variation on it's theme for you AT THE SAME COST.
Want more shoulder pads? Ask him for shoulder pads. The guy will probably e-mail you back with a choice of three kinds.
Want darker fabric? Light fabric? Rougher? Smoother? More Brown? More Pink?
It's yours for the asking.
Magnoli has been a stand-up guy to deal with - at least, in MY experience.
I look forward to getting his jacket.
Thanks for reading.
Now, where was I?
Oh yeah:
I'm EXCITED!

Mitch
