Does anyone have any images of his trousers? They have those strange red bits at the bottom leg and stripe going up as far as I know. Though any references of the waist area? Does he have some sort of belt?
Also did anyone figure out what sneakers he wears? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Seems like a blend fabric...it seems that they just died the bottom with some kind of red/brown color. |

Good pictures guys. Yeah the bottom of the trousers look like they've got some sort of pattern in the red though very difficult to see.
The waist intrigues me as it looks like some sort of patchwork stitched belt with some sort of buckle and two buttons? Will see if I can find a pic. Idont have a bluray player anymore so cant study the movie.
Come to think of it I've never seen Battys costume on display. Was it lost? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Good questions Beast: for the shoes: good luck never saw those before and the '70 & '80 were my era
As for the costume itself...maybe someone here (or RPF) knows? |

Its possible the shoes have a logo that has been blacked out or something, but impossible to track down unless there is a sneaker expert
Something else I noticed from the photos it looks like the coat was possibly red but painted black. Have a close look at the pics above. _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

I think all of his clothes were custom made as seen in the sketches. His trousers seem to be above the waist and have two large pockets sewn on the front.
If anyone can grab some nice 2k images that would be a bonus as I have no access to a nice quality version of BR.

Some of the ideas that popped into my mind regarding those pants.
1) Custom made but based on:
Amish pants?
Menonnite pants?
Stable-boy pants (Western)?
Farmer's pants (European...Italy, Germany, Poland, Holland)?
You know, as well as me, that a costume designer has studied the history of costumes around the World (from the masses, the elite, the Royals, the Military etc). Then poured their focus on costumes from the movies and then, when travelling, they're usually interested in fabrics, clothes design used in the country they're visiting, museum, etc. It's a constant search for ideas. |
