Hello, all!

As the rest of you, I have always been fascinated with Dave Goldberg's variations of our favourite blaster.

As I had a pair of grips lying around which were a tad on the small side, I decided to have a go at the idea of a .38 version of the gun.
I simply rounded off the lower back of the grips and polished them back to an acceptable sheen, using furniture polish I had at hand.

So, I guesstimated how much smaller that version would be in comparison to the real thing, and I settled at 80%. A friend printed the parts of the original blaster (the amazing version by Anders Pedersen on Thingiverse) in dark grey and black ABS and I began to put it together. I decided to use glue, since, for one thing, it will only be intended for display, and, secondly, I'm better accustomed to it.

As you can see, I am currently building an outer grip frame from styrene, on which I will then screw the grips.
Also, I felt that the 80 % Steyr mag looks a bit small, so I asked my friend to print another one at 90 % size. The original size mag is just there for comparison.
Naturally, I will update with new pictures as the build goes along.

Cheers

Jens

Thank you!
I'll be getting the new Steyr mag next week. Until then, I'm working on the grips and other details. Hopefully I can post some pictures tomorrow.

A short update. I've worked on the grip frame (I'll be leaving it closed).

Naturally, it went a tad less easy than I had hoped.

Luckily, working with the ABS will later help me hide the crimes.

Time for some updating. I've done the frame and added the new Steyr part:

It actually looks quite decent with the grips screwed on...

...and not at all as puny as I had feared:

A size comparison with the version I bought years ago on Etsy:

Still a lot of filling and sanding to do, as well as adding the sight rod (non-wired), as well as holding magnets, LEDs and a battery to the Steyr mag. And painting and a bit of weathering, of course. When it is finished, it will end up here:

More pics to come. Thanks for watching so far!
