That's cool to hear, chew.
I hope you don't mind me asking: any of this project BR related ...or is it some other hobby?
If it IS BR, can you - or would you like to - elaborate? Or do you just not want to say anything about it just yet?
Curious,
Mitch |

it is blade runner related but I want to keep it under wraps until I have it. Or he posts it... But I have been watching the jacket thread to see when he re does it to look more screen accurate. I feel like the herringbone pattern runs sideways along the shoulder panel which breaks up the overall monotony of it.

Also Mitch, would you mind posting the cloth sample he sent you please? _________________ I just do eyes. |

Being new to the process, I'm not sure how to proceed with this.
It's HIS sample, so I'll ask Magnoli if he'd mind if I post the fabric sample... ar ask him if he'd like to do so himself. I'll let you know - or simply post - once I have an answer from him.
Gotta say, though... I don't believe there's any sort of herringbone pattern to the fabric we're dealing with... I couldn't say whether or not he's able to provide to someone who'd prefer that, something in a herringbone that's similar in color to what we're using... I'll let him answer that question to anyone who asks him.
Hope to get back to you on this SOON, though. (In the meantime, sorry for the wait... but I don't want to step on any toes...)

Okay, so here's how that went:
I wrote Magnoli, and mentioned everything we've discussed above.
He wrote back:
"The fabric has a standard linen weave (like you'd see on a typical summer linen jacket). We do have some herringbone fabrics, but these are higher end materials, and I really want to keep the cost down, not to mention that most of them don't have the texture of the silk-linen and certainly not the color. For those who want herringbone options, we do have it (see attachments). Feel free to post the swatches if you want."
So, FIRST of all... here's the Herringbone Swatches he sent me pictures of:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/MitchLaRue/Herringbone1.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/MitchLaRue/Herringbone2.jpg
HERE's the swatch we'll be making MY version of Deckard's Blazer from (the fabric on the RIGHT, as opposed to the #40 which is the "Burnt Orange" Color in Magnoli's Catalog):
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/MitchLaRue/205-116-bronze.jpg
For my tastes, I much prefer the look of the bronze silk linen blend (AND the lower cost!)
But that might just be me...
Either way, I'm looking forward to getting this garment!

Yeah Mitch, I agree the linen does look good, my head tells me the herringbone is correct but the overall appearance and color of your choice looks better. _________________ I just do eyes. |

Just a quick "head's up" from me to any of you who maybe spend most of your time at PropSummit hanging out in THIS Forum (as opposed to browsing, for instance, Blaster-related threads)...
Over in the Replica & Screen Used Props Forum, in the "Deckard's Hero Blaster is now up for sale" thread, DeckB26354 posted 4 photos that were intended to provide some photo reference on the subject of Deckard's Blaster...
but the photos prompted me to post the following (over in THAT thread):
Just a quick (and kinda' Off Topic) comment:
A BIG Thanks for those photos, DeckB26354!
As a "Shirt & Tie" Guy, I love those 1st, 3rd & 4th photos you posted! They give us such a great look (better than any I'VE seen, anyway) at the designs on both the shirt & tie worn during the confrontation with Batty scenes.
I know it's not the point of what you set out to do here, but I just wanted to say: I really appreciate it!
Mitch
So if, like me, you'd like to get a REALLY GOOD (albeit Black'n'White) look those articles of clothing... take a look over that way.
Cheers. _________________ Memories... You're talking about memories... |

Well, I told ya I'd let ya know:
This morning I received an e-mail from Magnoli on the subject of the Magnoli Deckard Blazer, Shirt & Tie I'd ordered:
"The new jacket is finally finished! I'll send it out today with your shirt and tie. It should arrive within two weeks."
So here I am... just waiting on a couple of things (due to arrive in a couple of weeks) in order to put together what I hope might be a couple of pretty cool photos (I'm sure you'll let me know if you're giving it a thumbs up or down).
Hopefully, I'll get my turn posting shots of myself all "Deckarded-out" in BR Gear pretty soon!

Hey guys!
My Magnoli Blazer, Shirt & Tie (finally!) showed up today... and I've gotta say: I'm really impressed with these garments. I love 'em! They've got the look AND feel of quality... and the fit of everything is PERFECT!
When I checked on my e-mail this evening, I found that chew had sent me a pm (hope you don't mind me sharing it, chew) saying:
"Hey Mitch, is that your new deckard jacket up on magnoli's website? If so its Looking good!"
Now, here's a little preface to this:
Since Magnoli had sent me a message last week saying that my BR stuff was on the way, I'd been checking his website pretty much every day to see if maybe he'd switch the pictures of the "Burnt Orange" prototype Blazer with the follow-up jacket he was sending me... only to find out, day after day, that he HADN'T updated it yet.
Frustrating... but I knew my stuff was coming my way, so I kept as patient as I could.
Ironically, of course, I had a monster of a day at work and DIDN'T have the time to check out his website yet today... So when I read that comment from chew, I immediately went to Magnoli's Catalog ...specifically: http://magnolic.ipower.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=26&osCsid=fc641bfdfde7ba0fac77525c62324f77
So, having said that... I'll now answer the question:
You're correct, chew that IS my jacket (assuming you're talking about the one shown in bronze... I say that because it looks like there is ALSO one in the Overstock section in Brick Red which looks to have a few subtle design differences from my jacket.)
(I'll ask a favor here: Any chance anyone here could maybe put up a few photos of those catalog photos?)
Anyway, I love this bronze Deckard Blazer... the weave of the fabric might be TOO tight for some... but I'M happy, anyway!
Also, it's really wrinkled up and creased from the compact from the way it was shipped, but still I'm not complaining... I'll be dropping it off at the Dry Cleaner tomorrow to get it pressed.
Photos are guaranteed before this weekend is over, guys... I'll say in advance, I hope you like 'em.
It's getting late here so I'm off to bed, but tomorrow I want to pop back in on my Lunch Break and tell you a little of what kinda' "modification" craziness I decided to try with the Magnoli Deckard Shirt that arrived with the Blazer & Tie!
Talk to you all again SOON.
Cheers,

Thank you andy!
Actually , now that I have a minute to do it, I'm going to ADD to this thread in order to make this page a sorta' "One-Stop Info Spot" for photos of Magnoli's Deckard Blazer.
First of all, here's the "Burnt Orange" prototype Blazer (what I thought was the FAR too bright version):
Next is my "Bronze" Deckard Blazer (for color comparison with above)...Although, to be honest, I STILL think these Catalog shots are a bit too "lit up" and doesn't really show the color as it exists in natural light. Hopefully, I'll find a way to make sure that the photos I take this weekend do that job)... Next to it, the website shot of the pocket of the version now in my posession.
Also, a quick closing note:
You may recall that in my previous post I made mention of a "Brick Red" Version of this jacket in the Overstock Section of Magnoli's Webste.
Well, it's no longer there... From what I can gather, it was gone shortly after I posted that statement.
So, if you went looking for it and got frustrated at not being able to find it... my apologies
On the up side: While I'm not at liberty to say WHO... it's my understanding that the "Brick Red" Version went into the good care of one of our very own Propsummit Members here.
(So, if you're reading this, new jacket owner... don't forget to share some PHOTOS!)
Oh, and Gaff: DEFinitely worth it.
