Posted: Thu Mar 12, 2009 6:19 pm Post subject: TYRELL BUILDING REPLICA (UPDATED WITH IMAGES) |
|
|
Hello,
i just registered to this forum and would like to say thanks to everyone here who gathered so much useful and detailed information which i could not have found elswhere..
i was wondering, has anyone ever attempted to start a project as large as a replica of the Tyrell Building? or would anyone be interested in doing such a thing? as many of you probably know, the original Tyrell Building Prop is in the Museum of Moving Image, NYC. i was there last year for a visit and took many close up photos, including a 360 degrees short video of the original prop. would anyone here be interested in seeing those pics? i wonder would they be useful to anyone?
may the force be with you, all...
sorry for the delay, had to finish some design project all weekend...
the hall where the TYRELL prop was displayed had a terrible light, and it was forbidden to take photos with flash so this is the best i could do...

Welcome aboard
I think everyone would love to see those pics, me included.
As for a Tyrell building replica, i've never seen one. |

Welcome David, and yes, post these suckers a.s.a.p.
There's a reason why the Tyrell was never built: it's too damn expensive and time consuming to replicate (no pun intended).
Don't forget that to build it, a team of many modelmakers worked at it for weeks to achieve the proper look we see in the movie.
What would you charge to produce one? |

Welcome aboard!
I'd also love to see your pics & video whenever you have a chance.
I seem to vaguely recall a papercraft version for sale on ebay long ago, but as far as a true model is concerned it's never been done.

I've always wanted to work up a small 4-6 inch model of the Tyrell pyramid for use as a paper weight. Never could figure out the best way to get the surface details on it though. _________________

WAAAOOOWWW, thanks a lot for posting those, they're gorgeous !!!
The attention to detail is amazing, a true work of art (we already knew that, but seeing it that close makes it even more impressive !)
BTW, Welcome aboard !
Fred
PS : Someone here has the tiny office model (the one with fans where Leon passes the VK test) that was originaly a part of this Tyrell corp Pyramid...

i am glad you all liked the photos.. i will go to NY around mid May so i promise i will have a better cam with me and hopefully i will record some 360 degree videos aswell..
it feels soo nice to be around people with the same passion.. even though i am a self proclaimed master jedi, the BEST Sci-Fi movie ever is without a doubt Blade Runner.. i made a case study about Blade Runner in my MSc Thesis..
it included a detailed breakdown of all design construction in the movie and how it refers to today..
anyways.. thank you all for the warm welcome.. this is definetely friendly waters! |

Thank you very much for posting those photos. I wish I had known it was in NYC when I was there last, and I would have gone to visit it. maybe a road trip is in order. Most of the props to this movie seem to be in either LA, Seattle, or Florida.
Thank you again and Welcome,
Andy |

Interesting! Are there other props or artifacts on display, from Blade Runner or anything else? |

i lost R2 - WELCOME! what a way to introduce yourself. the pyramid is one of my favorite characters in the movie to be honest. thank you for posting these and the info about the exhibit. enjoy your time here. by the way, your paper sounds interesting...
Andy, I have family in Florida and go there often ... I used to see the old spinner at the Back To The Future ride in Orlando at Universal Studios, but what other BR related items are in FL?
thanks. _________________ two legs bad, four legs good. |
