I think Nick already busted this on the RPF...too bad I was about to buy it too. I was about to watch the movie again too. I may still do that when I have time. I am spending too much time rebuilding my computer and working for my Boss while he is in Peru.
About the money though it appears to be background seen through his arm. The money is crumpled up and mostly not seen in frame. |

Yeah, I think Nick's right...
Not that this isn't something anyone with Photoshop could do quite easily...

Where were those screen shots taken from? All the widescreen versions do not show him holding the money at all. I know the origional DC had the pan and scan version on the flip side. I don't have a copy of that to review. I do think Nick is right by how the supposed money stays put while his arm seems to move and his hand still seems to be holding something else. I just wish I could see it in the context of the moving film. |

Yeah, that certainly looks "enhanced" alright!
I thought it was confirmed by one of the prop guys that the chinese paper money was used for the film. But the bills had a dingy look to them.
I'm probably just spreading false information!! Ignore me!! _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

As far as I know, the only reason anyone thinks it's Chinese money is beacuse of Phil's project.
I'm open to any independent information. |

I agree.
Having real info from the person that made the actual prop or someone that actually worked on the film is the only way to confirm this.
Besides, as I had pointed out to ELTEE some time back, all the magazines in the backgounds still have USD on them.

And even cooler...modern Japanese bills. I think that's what I might put in my neck-hanging ID wallet. I can just go down to Little Tokyo and change 20 or 30 bucks for the purpose.

It might not be screen-accurate, but it's accurate in spirit, I think. _________________ Sushi, that's what she called me. Cold fish. |

BeastMaster, I tried a few quick Google image searches – didn't get anywhere.
Ms. Geek, that's correct. Back when we all thought they were Chinese money. You can get those bills on eBay for quite cheap.
Here's another resource for images of money: http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/notedir/mappage.html

What about the post in another thread from spinner44, about one of the designers saying the money being made from tissue paper?
Makes me wonder. _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

"[T]he money was made by using a tissue type wrapper off of a cookie."
That's Art Shipee's quote, from Spinner.44.
... Other than going to the local asian groceries and buying every cookie they have, I have no idea how to approach this ...
... One could always substitute some joss paper or hell money for the currency, for the time being.
