Interesting that the $260 bottle is a promo with fake ice obscuring the detail, and the cheap is the one filled with 25 year old Vodka. |

seems like Japan got a better supply of these than the US. Did they know something a long time ago that we didn't, or do they just save this stuff more than we do? |

Perhaps it was marketed more actively over there.
Or it simply sold better.

Got an email back from Smirnoff (Diageo).
We'll see where this leads. |

getting one from yahoo action will require someone from japan, btw. the seller will only deal with japanese for shipping.
and to further derail this thread...there is another screen used bottle that i don't believe has been ID'd...
http://props.steinschneider.com/blade_runner/tsing_tao/tsing_tao.htm
or did i miss that. |

I believe that is the same bottle we are talking about. I think the details are just lost in the screen shot and the label was removed and turned away. |

Guess what I just won on e-bay?
I'll post more pics when I actually have it in my hot little hand. |

Interesting since other people were working on this project, I hope this does not mean that their project is going to be railroaded.

So you were the one who had out-bid a fellow board member, eh?

There were no "Board Members" bidding when I typed in my high bid...though I did recognize pucknell when the dust settled.
bbabich: Maybe you could be a little less cryptic...
How could my having won an auction on E-Bay "railroad"
anyone's project? |

Congrats.
So, are we gonna see a run of replica Tsing Tao bottles once the Johnny Walker project is done?

Hey Mike, Hey Beast!
Thanks...I'm pretty pleased...I'll be happier when the seller actually responds to some of my questions.
I wasn't going to bid on the bottle initially because, as some others have pointed out, he's a ZERO seller. Then, at the last minute he actually got back to me and gave me some more info which convinced me I should go for it.
I didn't put my bid in until the last 56 seconds of the auction(which took a bit of self control) and at the time I hit the "CONFIRM BID" button there were only two bidders showing, the_big_giant_head01 and whiskyopera1928, neither of which are PropSummit People to the best of my knowledge.
My bid went in and then the screen refreshed showing that pucknell had thrown in a bid as well but that mine had won.
MAN...you think way too far ahead Mike!
I'll be happy when the BR Whiskey Bottle Project is finished...I'm planning a looooong break from ANY Prop forum believe me! |

Congrats! It does seam Shawn(Pucknell) drove up your bid though. I think this guy might consider selling some of the other ones he has now though. |

ahh! you outbid me!
i think we were both waiting for the last 60 seconds! i actually got in two or three bids, but you definitely outbid me.
congrats.
some further info..
-the bottle is empty. its unfortunate that the seller didn't post that info, even though i mentioned that it was a bit misleading to not have that info in the description.
-he doesn't have any more. he thought there was more, but there are not. |

no, take a look, the bottle under discussion, the smirnoff de czar, has lines that go horizontal. the one in the link here has lines that go verticla. completely different bottle! and it has not been id'd. |
